Back to topAn EICR is an Electrical Installation Condition Report. The inspection is also referred to as landlord electrical safety inspection. The electrical check is a great way of investigating the electrical systems at a property. Especially fixtures we can’t see as they are concealed behind flooring or in the ceiling.
Although electricity is wonderful and essential to day to day life, we do need to keep an eye on systems to make sure electrical faults are nipped in the bud.
During an inspection, EMC Electrical Group carries out visual checks on the lighting, outlets and switches and the consumer unit. If the premise has additional electrical systems such as EV chargers, solar panels or MVHR systems, these are checked too.
We look for any signs of electrical damage, wear and tear and areas of poor energy consumption.
We’re all incredibly protective about our homes. That's why an EICR is a good idea even if it’s not a legal requirement for homeowners. Many of the domestic customers we’ve worked with have come to find out that wiring is outdated or a fusebox upgrade is due, all through a routine EICR at their home in Hanham.
If you’re a landlord, the responsibility of carrying out regular EICRs every 5 years is mandated by UK law. An EICR will flag up any dangerous electrical faults which could result in injury to tenants or an electrical fire.
When EMC Electrical Group conducts an EICR, we assign a code to any electrical faults found. Any C1 or C2 faults which are considered very dangerous could result in an unsatisfactory outcome. We can of course give your expert advice and recommendations for remedial work which must be conducted within 28 days of the inspection.
Back to topUnder the health and safety at Work Act 1974 and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, businesses do have a legal responsibility to provide a safe electrical system. Having worked with a range of businesses in and around Hanham, we’re very familiar with specific regulations and key considerations you may need to uphold.
We know how busy commercial environments can be, that's why we’re happy to work with you and around your busy schedule, keeping disruption to a minimum.
As with any private rental properties, commercial business owners could face hefty fines or criminal charges if regular EICR inspections are not conducted by a qualified electrician
